working to meet standards

Legacies are the impact of traditions on today’s world ... left behind by people who struggled to meet standards for the benefit of others.

Sometimes people lower their standards without a fight ... and, they build new traditions that leave a poor legacy for those who follow.

Leaders often set the standards for future traditons before the future fight makes them a reality.  They decide NOW what they will stand for in the days to come.

So, let’s stand for those things that help our country, company, associates, customers, and families - great things, excellent things.  Let’s teach our children to build a wonderful legacy for future generations.  Lance.

(Note:  What are YOUR sales team standards.  What are YOUR minimum standards, average standards, GREATness standards?)

Please allow me to tell you about my last companies “team standards” I quit a company to go work for another. I entered this company with a phone book full of my network. In less than 2 months I built my funnel with 1.3mm in equipment and a whopping $53k in GP.  My team mates (3 men) one of which was with the company for 3 years and the other two new like me, were so intimidated with my talent they became whining cry babies looking for things to say to throw me under the bus to upper management. Things like as “she asked me a question while I was at lunch” rather than spitting out the truth being the conference door was wide open, the TV was on, she asked if she could ask me a question and I agreed she could.  They did everything in their power to sabotage me.  When I spoke with my boss, who resided across the country, I explained to him if you sat on your duff for 3 yrs with the little network you built earning your keep and some person comes in creating the activity that I am in such a short duration of time, wouldn’t you be intimidated? If you were new and didn’t have the network that I have built over the 17 yrs of my career, would you feel intimidated?  Be prepared to hear their whining for the next year.

I cannot believe these men stuck together like glue whining to management with such bull$%$# that created a termination for me. This tradition of male bonding killed the legacy of my success with the company I wanted so much to lead with by example…

Have your say
